Return to Binney Park
A couple weeks ago I had a session with Cameron, a senior at Brunswick School. I have known Cameron’s family for fifteen years and can remember him as an adorable three-year-old boy who was a preschool classmate of my daughter. Cameron’s mom had a few ideas for a session location but eventually chose Binney Park in Old Greenwich. She told me at the start of the session that it was fitting we were at Binney Park because she had had Cameron photographed here when he was just a toddler! I loved that we were coming full circle as Cameron is most definitely a mature young man now.
We started the session with some shots of Cameron with his parents. The three of them are a fun bunch and we had lots of laughs. It is clear that Cameron has a special bond with each of them and I had a great time capturing this.
After the family pictures, Cameron’s mom stayed for the session. She had taken my advice of bringing layers for clothing to heart. She had a bunch of options on hangers which she carried around as we worked our way around the Park. I joked that I should hire her a wardrobe assistant! The best part of having layers is that it is easy to get a variety of looks. We had no shortage of those.
It was a beautiful Saturday in October so the park was quite crowded. I counted three other photographers there doing their own sessions. It did not matter because there were countless options for great images. I love this one of Cameron on the bridge.
Cameron was an incredible sport and so cooperative. He joked that his mom had told him the session would last about 20 minutes! Cameron is also a very accomplished high school senior. Not only has he excelled academically but he is also a world class foil fencer. He is a member of the Junior National Squad in Great Britain and is also one of only four team members on the GRB Junior Team for European and World Championships for 2020. He and his mother have literally travelled the world throughout his high school years so Cameron could compete. Although 2020 has had a significant impact on Cameron’s ability to compete, he continues his practicing nonetheless. Our session had to include some fun fencing shots. Cameron is such an accomplished young man and I am excited to hear what the future holds for him.
