Indian Summer Dream Session

Last month I had the most magical session with Maddie on a very sunny and warm September Saturday.  Maddie is senior at Greenwich Academy.  I have known Maddie since she was in preschool and am good friends with her mom.  When her mom booked her session last spring, I was thrilled.  I knew that we would have such a fun time together and capture beautiful images.  I was right!

Maddie chose my session package that includes up to three different locations.  I always love to get a big variety of images in every senior’s gallery and it is easy to accomplish when I get three different spots to take the photos!  I advised Maddie to bring a change of outfits to add even more variation.

Our first stop was Old Greenwich.  I wanted to get a few urban themed images for Maddie.  We found a great spot for a reflection.  Who doesn’t like Chanel?

Next up was the train tracks. I have always wanted to photograph a senior near Metro North. I loved Maddie’s attitude and poses. She looked so cosmopolitan. An express train whizzed by and I am sure the passengers noticed her.

Our final location was my all-time favorite spot– Todd’s Point.   I saved it for last so the sun would be lower and the light more spectacular.  It always amazes me how much the light changes in one hour at the beach near sundown.

Maddie had some fun with her lacrosse stick and ball.  She is an incredible lacrosse player and will be joining the team at Duke University next year.  Talk about skill and commitment.  As long as I have known Maddie she has been a stand out athlete.  She is also a very accomplished swimmer.

Maddie’s sister Ellie joined us for the session and made it even more fun.  The two sisters are about as close as any two sisters could be.  I love seeing how they interact and support each other.  They are so lucky to have each other.   Ellie also was a terrific assistant and helped me with my reflector a few times and encouraged Maddie throughout the whole session.

Maddie is just about the sweetest young woman you could meet so I asked her how in the world she is able to be such a fierce lacrosse player.  She told me her mindset changes when playing.  I wanted to get an image of her looking intimidating with her lacrosse stick.  We had to try several times because she could not control her laughter.  I actually think I love the image of her sweet smile even more because it truly reflects her kind and light hearted manner.

The light kept changing and I just kept shooting.  We covered so much ground and I liked each image better than the next.  Maddie is a natural in front of the camera.

It was a dream session for me.  The time flew by and we literally stayed until it got too dark to continue.  I think the images reflect this multitalented stand out senior.  I cannot wait to see what the future holds for Maddie.  I know her future is bright!  Go Blue Devils!
