A Stroll Around the Golf Course
When Fritz’s mom contacted me about a session I was thrilled. As the mom of three sons I absolutely believe that senior boys should be celebrated just as much as senior girls. Truth be told more of my clients are females which is great but I love to photograph senior boys just as much. They too are at the crossroads of leaving childhood and entering adulthood. They are all on the brink of the next chapter!
Fritz and I met at the Stanwich Club which is familiar ground for me. I have even photographed my own children for holiday cards at the Club. I love it there and was so excited to have our session at this location. Fritz, unlike myself, is a regular golfer at the Club. This made our session better than I expected because Fritz was able to navigate us around the golf course without bothering anyone! It also happened to be a picture-perfect October afternoon so we really lucked out.
I have known Fritz for years but indirectly through his parents and my own sons. Each of my boys had great things to say about Fritz so I knew I was in for a treat. I was looking forward to spending time one on one with him. My sons did not exaggerate. Fritz and I had a wonderful time strolling around taking photos and talking. He is a wonderful conversationalist and could not have been more polite or cooperative. He also looked like he stepped out of a Vineyard Vine catalog so I had no trouble getting terrific images of this handsome young man.
There was one shot I had in mind that I was unsure if I’d be able to get. There is a walking bridge on a small pond in one section of the golf course that lends itself to great reflections. I have always wanted to take a photo of my kids on that bridge but was reluctant to try given its location in the middle of the course. With Fritz it was possible! He was able to determine how much time we had before we ran into the next party of golfers. I love this image because it symbolizes that Fritz like all high school seniors has the world at his feet! I am confident that Fritz will have a great senior year at King School and cannot wait to see what the future holds for this fantastic young man.
